My biggest wish for Élan is that it gives young writers a place for recognition. I remember the pride I felt when I won Élan’s middle school writing contest. It was the first time my writing had been celebrated on such a scale, and I gained the validation I needed to continue my craft.
I want nothing more but for young writers to feel what I felt, and I am passionate about creating more opportunities for writers of all backgrounds and skill sets to put their work into the world. Young people hold such a poignant perspective on life and are extremely keen on their surroundings. Young people are the future of writing, and Élan serves as a platform to recognize these contributors to the expansion of the literary world.
