READING/VIEWING PERIOD AND ACCEPTANCE
Writing submissions for the Spring 2020 Online Edition are now CLOSED
Art submissions for the Spring 2020 Online Edition are now CLOSED
Élan international student literary magazine accepts original fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, screen writing, and plays from students currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12. We produce two online editions a school year, one in the Fall/Winter and another in the Spring. The two editions are combined into a single Print Edition at the end of each school year. We seek original, innovative, creative and nuanced work from around the world.
In addition to student writing, we welcome student produced visual art including photography, drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and printmaking. As long as you can provide a high quality (300 dpi or higher) digital representation of your work, we are open to considering it!
Those who submit will receive an email confirming that the submission was received. We ask that before submitting you specify which genre your piece falls under. All submitted pieces will go through a blind reading process in which the staff will choose the best work based on the National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE) standards.
Simultaneous submissions must be noted and will be accepted at the discretion of the staff. Stick to appropriate topics and subject matter as we are a student based magazine. An email will be sent notifying those who are accepted.
All writers who have their work chosen for the Fall/Winter or Spring Edition will be mailed a free copy of the Print Edition in which their piece appears.
Each writer/artist may only submit three pieces per issue. If more are sent, they will not be considered.
